Scope of Work

Close to 3.250 m of inclined raises in diameters between 3.09-4.5 m for ventilation (both primary and secundary). Longest raise: 402 m.

Project description

The largest raised shafts to full diameter in Scandinavia to this date. Performance from surface location during winter period with temperatures dropping to -30 degrees Celcius. LKAB is increasing and upgrading the ventilation capacity in the Vitåfors Mine. The project is called "Vent 2000" and the main scope of work is two 4.5 m raises from the surface down to level 840 and a number of secondary raises to increase the ventilation capacity at the new production level. Skanska Raise Boring AB is the subcontractor for the raise boring and Skanska Berg & Bro for the tunnel development necessary for the raises. ABB is the supplier of the new fan system.

Robbins 97 DC, Rhino 2000 DC and Rhino 2008 H Sandvik reamers and cutters.
